Romania has officially made its debut on the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 stage, with singer Alexandra Căpitănescu completing her first rehearsal in Vienna. The rehearsal, which took place on Monday, was an encouraging step towards the live semi-final on May 14.
Căpitănescu and her team, consisting of six performers, described the rehearsal as intense yet rewarding. "We rehearsed with the full look, the props and the scenography we worked on. It was intense, but beautiful," she noted. The performance centers around the theme of breath and emotional pressure, with a build-up that culminates in what is being termed an 'electrifying' climax.
The singer expressed satisfaction with how the rehearsal unfolded, stating that it felt very close to their artistic vision. Although she acknowledged that some details still need refinement, the rehearsals are expected to bring them closer to their ultimate goal for the live performance.
Căpitănescu's next rehearsal is set for May 8, giving the team a chance to perfect their act before the semi-finals. Fans are cautiously optimistic, eager to see how Romania's entry, 'Choke Me,' will resonate with audiences.
As Eurovision approaches, the excitement surrounding vocal performances and artistic interpretation grows, marking a significant moment in the calendar for music lovers across Europe. Romania will hope to make a lasting impression this year, continuing its participation in this iconic competition.
